My passion is for God's glory. I confess that I'm still learning how to enjoy Him forever. I am so thrilled that God has entrusted me with the following roles for helping people develop their relationship with their Heavenly Father:

Pastor

I was a pastor for four years in central Indiana, then an associate pastor for three years in southern California. For the past nine years as a missionary, I have divided my preaching and pastoral care between the Christian church in Yanemilen Tanna (where we live), the International Christian Church in Port Vila (they keep me on my toes, because it's hard to come up with something new to say about the Bible to a bunch of missionaries), and the Chinese Christian Church in Port Vila (I'm honored they give me this privelege because they have much to teach me about the Christian life).

Missionary

My wife and I have been members of Wycliffe Bible Translators since 2000. We advised the translation of the New Testament into the SW Tanna language. Now I am an anthropology and translation consultant, which means I teach anthropology and Bible translation methods to missionaries, and I check Bible translations for accuracy in exegesis and effectiveness of communication.

Author

I publish on Bible translation, gospel and culture, and linguistics in Vanuatu. Click here for my publications (some are linked).

Professor

I teach adjunct with several universities, colleges and Bible Institutes, including Indiana Wesleyan University, Liberty University, Talua College, and Southern Islands Presbyterian Bible College.

I enjoy any outdoor sport that doesn't include catching or throwing- especially skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, and playing golf (yes, in that order).
